About
Lakehead University’s governance structure is established under the Lakehead University Act of 1965.
Under the Act, the Senate is responsible for educational policy and related matters.
As the “body corporate” established under the Act, the Board of Governors exercises its governance, oversight, and public accountability duties through leadership and delegation in strategic planning, financial stewardship, ethical integrity and risk management regarding the University’s objects and purposes, assets, and affairs.
The Board of Governors appoints the President and through him/her works in collaboration with faculty and administration; along with various community and business partners when protecting and advancing the interests of the University.
